Higher IP Protection for Industrial PCs

Many industrial PCs are not particularly protected against dust or water and do not prevent accidental contact with dangerous parts. However, in many areas, such as food production, higher requirements are placed on case protection. To determine the protection status of the case, IP protection information in the data sheets is helpful.

The protection type is indicated by the two letters "IP," which are accompanied by several digits. If one of the digits is not specified, an "X" replaces its position. The first digit indicates protection against foreign objects, ranging from 0, no protection, to 6, dust-tight. The second digit indicates protection against water, ranging from 0, no protection against water, to 9, protection against high-pressure/steam jet cleaning.

Depending on the type of construction, the products are categorized into classic front protection or all-around protection.
